With the Birth of the Internet in the mid-nineties links between those Togolese citizens living in exile and those living in Togo has become stronger . The Internet has unabled supporters of Democracy in Togo aswell as Togolese nationals alike to create online communities to spread word of the abuses of power in Togo .

Many people around the world hoped democracy would come to Togo like it had in many nations around the globe after the end of the cold-war . The Creation of Transitional government in the early 1990's and the allowance of political parties brought hope.

The death of long serving dictator Gnassingbe Eyadema in 2005 raised hopes of a new era but the failure of the existing political parties and the strenght of the military unabled the Gnassingbe family to remain in power.

Post-election 2005 saw hundreds of thousands of Togolese citizens fleeing torture , rape , abuses and government sponsored death squads .

The failure of the Olympio led opposition parties to aid those togolese refugees unabled Togolese citizens to see Olympio and the existing political parties as Power hungry and only interested in gaining power.

This realisation let several of those refugees to join forces with Togolese citizens in Europe and establish a social-political party . Thus Liberta was formed with the aim to bring '' True '' democratic value's to Togo.

Liberta has its headquarters in Great Britain.

The current Opposition party wants nothing but to take their turn at governing the Togolese people. Should the current oppossition including the Union of Forces for Change (UFC) led by Gilchrist Olympio take power they will bring Togo into Civil conflict whilst enriching themselves just as the Gnassingbe government has. Liberta was created out of the need for a political and social party which has policies and aims to rebuild Togo. Thus the UFC has been in existence since the early 1980's they have no policies to speak off.

Since its founding two years ago Liberta has undertake Social Programs to aid the Togolese nation and its people. Examples of our Work in Togo include .

The Togolese education system has crumbled over the last few decades due to corruption within the government. This moment in time Teachers do not receive their salaries and the Schooling centres are falling apart. Many teachers across the nation despite being unpaid still teach. Liberta has taken the initiative and currently helps in several Primary Schools across Togo. Our work involves using our own resources to pay teachers so that they may continue to feed themselves and families. As time goes on Liberta aims to take over from the corrupt Gnassingbe government is incapable and by reaching more schools provide a basic education to more of Togo's Children and help teachers feed their families.

The Togolese Healthcare system has crumbled over the years. The poor state of Togo has left 75% (Source-Cia world factbook) of its citizens without jobs or regular income. Basic healthcare has to be paid for by individuals who are unable to feed themselves. Doctors do not receive their salaries from the government and basic medical supplies are too expensive for the average citizen. Liberta provides several Mobile Doctors who are located across Togo. Over the next year Liberta will be working to build several clinics in Togo. Liberta unables these Mobile Doctors to travel across to rural communities and provide free healthcare education and treatment.

All of Liberta's funds are raised through fundraising efforts currently centered in Great Britain whilst Liberta works with groups such as PLAN TOGO and CLINICS OF HOPE.ORG in order to aid the Togolese People.
