I.          Welcome

                        Meeting began at 3:00 pm.

II.        Keyboard

One of the keyboards in the grad room is broken and/or missing.  We have reported this, but it is still broken.  We made need to make an issue of it in order to get it fixed.

Connie Viamonte volunteered to be the point person for getting the department to fix it.

No new news yet on this front.

III.       Workshop

Update on SAGSA Workshops:

·        “Refworks Part 2”   will take place on Tuesday, April 10 at 2pm.  Part 1 was great; you don’t want to miss Part 2!   Francisco Sastre is the point person for this initiative.

IV.                   Colloquia Update

Today was the last colloquium of the semester, presented by Dr. William Darrow.  It was fabulous!

The previously planned colloquium by Dr. Weidman (for April 20) has been CANCELLED due to conflicts with all of the end of semester events. Instead, his presentation will kick off next fall’s colloquia series.  Something to look forward to all summer long!

Next Year’s Colloquia Committee:

The colloquia committee members for next year will include:   Tekla Nicholas, Alex Angee, Safietou Kane. Any one else who is interested should email Tekla at lotek60@aol.com.   The faculty advisor for next year will remain Dr. Alex Stepick.

V.                    Farewell for Professors and Students

Turns out we can no longer use SAGSA funds to purchase gift cards of any kind! So, we came up with the brilliant idea of purchasing Itty-Bitty Book lights as gifts.  Who doesn’t love an Itty-Bitty Book light?

Bora and Le are working on the purchase order and rest of this unreasonably complicated process for accessing our SAGSA funds.

Thanks guys for undertaking this otherwise thankless work!

VI.                   End of Year Events

·        Dr. Mahler’s Proposal Writing Class Presentations:  Students in Dr. Mahler’s proposal writing class will be making their final presentations on April 13th.   All SAGSA students are strongly encouraged to attend, and SAGSA is sponsoring a post-event reception.
