I. Welcome
Meeting began at 2:57 pm.
II. SAGSA Officers
Nominations for SAGSA officers for the next semester were accepted by email. Luckily for us, we have willing candidates for each position! With only one nomination per office, the outcome wasn’t exactly unpredictable, but either way, we’re thrilled to announce that the following slate was unanimously approved:
President: Courtney Dowdall
Vice
President: Connia Viamonte
Secretary: Karen Mahar
Treasurer: Bora Pajo

III. Budget
We have $910, which will be spent as follows:
· $200 reception for Dr. Mahler’s proposal presentations
· $200 year-end social with professors
· $200 gifts for departing professors and students
· $150 mid-semester party at Karen’s place
· $160 Target - for ink for the printer in grad room and for paper products (paper plates, napkins, etc.) for colloquia, etc.
IV. Keyboard
One of the keyboards in the grad room is broken. We have reported this, but it is still broken. We made need to make an issue of it in order to get it fixed.
Connie Viamonte volunteered to
be the point person for getting the department to fix it.
V. Workshop
Update on SAGSA Workshops:
· “Refworks Part 2” will take place on Tuesday, April 10 at 2pm. Part 1 was great; you don’t want to miss Part 2! Francisco Sastre is the point person for this initiative.
· “How to Make the Most from Census Data” was presented by the knowledgeable and very fabulous Emily Eisenhauer on March 16. We learned a ton. Thanks Emily!
VI. Colloquia Update
Next colloquium will be Dr.

VII. Farewell for Professors and Students
Bora and LeTania are following up on getting the farewell gifts for departing professors and students. It remains unclear whether we can do gift cards or if we have to pick actual gifts. The purchase order office hasn’t been super helpful in giving instructions. But Bora and Le are figuring it out.
The gifts will be distributed at the year-end social as appropriate.
VIII. End of Year Events
· Dr. Mahler’s Proposal Writing Class Presentations: Students in Dr. Mahler’s proposal writing class will be making their final presentations on April 13th. All SAGSA students are strongly encouraged to attend, and SAGSA is sponsoring a post-event reception. Time still TBA.
· Spring Social: The date of the Spring Social is still undetermined but will be announced soon. We can’t wait!

The next, and potentially last, SAGSA meeting is Friday, April 6th.
