I. PRESIDENT'S REPORT

A. How we get money from GSO

1. Register every semester before deadline

2. Attend 4 GSA Meetings ($50 each)

3. 4 of our own meetings ($50 each)

4. Gradskeller ($10 each)

5. GSA workshops ($10 each)

6. Website ($50)

7. up to 3 events, $100 each

For this semester our events are: Fenema lecture, funding seminar, Census workshop.

B. Buying food and supplies

1. Only Purchase Order to get reimbursed – do not shop w/ cash

www.fiu.edu/~asbo – click forms, file for funds, to locate P.O. for funds

2. March 15 deadline for submitting P.O. to use money this semester.

 

II. TREASURER'S REPORT

We had $774 at the beginning of semester, and $300 was spent on Fenema lecture. We have $400 now – spend by end of the semester or we lose it

 

III. OLD BUSINESS

A. MURAL

Connie’s Mom will paint a mural on canvas for the grad room

Each student to submit a picture they want

Motion moved – Passed -- $60 for supplies

B. GRAD ROOM RENNOVATIONS

1. Maintenance will spray for bugs, hand TV in corner, remove suggestion box, and fix the lights.

2. Surplus will remove table for loveseat

3. 2 new computers coming in at end of semester

4. Decide what we want removed by March 10th

5. Emily and Bri will go over to surplus to check for couches etc.

6. Michael’s – P.O. to get money to go buy frames for Mao and Martin.

7. Wall coloring

a. Dark teal on cabinets (Motion passed)

b. Look at a color deck for walls and see about a lighter teal

c. Chalkboard paint at a later time? That, or a Whiteboard

d. Look for new hardware for cabinets ($50 budget for all hardware and frames) – Motion moved - Passed

 

C. GRADSKELLER, March 11

 

D. DEPARTMENT PICNIC AT STEPICKS'

March 12th

Faculty will buy paper goods and main dish, probably chicken.

Suggested Ricky create e-vite, RSVP with pot-luck contibution.

SAGSA spends $100 on drinks, etc. and people bring their own – Motion moved – Passed

E. CENSUS WORKSHOP

April 6th, 10:30am – 12pm during Stats class. Open to all.

B. SUMMER CLASS

1. If we want one we need to find a professor and discuss with department how to get it into the budget.

2. Emily will send e-mail around to see what people would be interested in taking

 

C. COMPETENCY EXAM

1. Are the 3 weeks separate for each exam or total for both ?

2. Confusion about our timing
