SAGSA General Meeting Tuesday, November 15, 2005 Present: Emily Eisenhauer, Bri Barclay, Alex Angee, Dusan Ugrina, Tekla Nichols, Tricia Amisial, Anne Braseby, Christine McVay, Christine Winter, Marco Chavez, Elizabeth Dick, Anjuli Gustafson, Francisco Sastre The President called the meeting to order at 2:20 PM Treasurer's Report We have spent $269.17 plus $25 for food today, and so have $265.83 remaining. Workshop - Dusan Ugrina A workshop on summer opportunities will be held on November 29 at 2:00 PM in DM 323. Professor Goldin will present information on external opportunities, Dusan will present information on internal opportunities. Dusan and Emiliy Hogue will arrange flyers, publicity and refreshments. $40 was requested. Holiday Gathering The holiday gathering for graduate students and faculty will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, December 9 on the patio area outside the soc/ant department Tekla, Marco, Francisco and Anjuli are in charge of organizing the food. It was voted to spend $200. Tricia will make and diseminate an invitation requesting an RSVP Holiday music - Bri in charge Check with Michelle regarding holiday decorations and money for adult beverages GSA Rep - Tricia The GSA is holding a focus group at 6pm on Friday, November 18th and request a member from each GSO to attend. No one is available therefore Tricia will send an email citing the following issues: 1) recycling, 2) condition of gracie's patio, 3) pool tables - where are they? and 4) graduate student lounge Budget for next semester The following budget was approved; colloguia 20% social functions 20% meetings 30% workshops 20% misc. 10% Elections The following members were elected to the board, to serve until December 2006, beginning in January 2006 President: Brianne Barclay V President: Anjuli Secretary: Alex Angee Treasurer: Ricky Pollo GSA Rps: Tricia and Francisco CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!! Old Business: Alex will follow up on getting an easel to Connie's mother New Business Anne Braseby recently saw a performance by a migration specialist and suggested we see about getting her to give a performance at FIU. Anne will look into the costs and approach Dr. Mahler for possible funding from the Center for Transnational and Comparative Studies. Emily will purchase cards from the bookstore to have on hand for thank you’s and get-well’s. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3;05 PM.
