12:40   Meeting called to order

12:41   New students discussed their experience in the program in terms of adaptation, classes, books, etc

12:43   Francisco gave a balance of last workshop and opened the floor for suggestions for future workshops; some ideas included a more advanced workshop on Refworks and one on wellness and stress management from the wellness center.

            Brianne will follow up and schedule at the wellness center, appropriate date will be October 24, 2006.

12:53   Jasney updated us on the possibility of having a “Habitat day,” In order to do so a coordinator must go to the meeting, Alex volunteered to go on the 26th of October at 7PM

12:55   Courtney updated us on the International Relations symposium, more information is on the way regarding student participation from SAGSA

12:57   Tekla complimented the organization and attendance to previous colloquium, the next one will be this Friday October, 6th at 1:00 PM by Dr Erazo, and will also take place at the Labor Center 301. Again we will do a potluck to provide refreshments, Tekla will coordinate who brings refreshments and food

1:03     We will no longer do weekly emails; there is consensus that the information is redundant as it is coming from different sources

1:04     SAGSA website will continue to be updated in order to receive credit dollars from GSA at the end of the semester. Brianne is updating calendar, but suggestions must be sent to Renee

1:06     Renee gave update on picture and bio reception necessary for the update of SAGSA student site

1:07     Courtney updated us with the budget; currently at $459.86, SAGSA must figure out some expenses to use the money up in the following months, some ideas include software and journals, Renee and Jasney will look into some possibilities related to software, suggestions for journal were accepted

1:10     The floor moved to make some profit out the books in the Grad Room LeTania will be in charge of organizing the sale through eBay. Courtney and Ryan will catalog what we have and we will organize a pre sale for students and faculty

1:21     Francisco reviewed GSA money available for students (travel, conferences, etc) and how the point system works. For further information see Francisco or go to the GSA website

1:23     SAGSA is responsible for the organization of the Homecoming Gradskellar, ideas and suggestions will be discussed in future meetings

1:26     Courtney proposed screenings of independent films or documentaries and discussed the idea of doing it through SAGSA or GSA, Francisco will bring up the idea to GSA, but we will reimburse them $30 for the initial screening

1:32     Next SAGSA officer elections will be held on November the 14th, 2006

1:33     Renee gave her update on the round table activity; she will coordinate the events directly with those who are interested

1:36     Painting and new pictures are on the way, Alex will be in charge of putting them up and organizing the presentation of the painting

1:38     Next meeting to be held on October 17th 2006
